In September 2011, we moved to a new property near Moorefield, Ontario. We now have almost 4 acres of lovely space to build a garden paradise. In preparation for this move I had stockpiled a rather large collection of trees, shrubs, perennials & vines which were residing at a greenhouse. 35% of these were my favourite plants dug up from their previous home and the rest were collected over the last couple of years. There were well over a thousand plants! What was I thinking!
Within the first couple of months with the weather being quite cooperative I planted over 40 Japanese Maples, 8 fruit trees and a variety of Beech, Linden, Sweetgum, Gingko Biloba, Ornamental Cherry, Redwood, Katsura, Weeping & River Birch among others. So, most of the trees went in and then about 75% of the smaller shrubs were planted next. Lots of blueberry bushes, rhododendrons, peonies, roses, butterfly bushes, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on......
Next thing was all 20 of the Clematis Vines, trumpet vines, chocolate vine, Japanese Hydrangea and Wisteria. Then I did some of the perennials Hellebores, Heucheras, Hostas,Toad Lilies, ferns, and the list goes on....till it all became exhausting.
What I did not get a chance to plant was all the Daylilies, Echinaceas, Liatris, Delphiniums, and some other small shrubs and perennials that were going into raised garden beds.
The raised garden beds that my husband designed and built were not quite ready yet and 60 yards of soil was also needed to fill them and there was only 20 yards at hand. Winter was coming, November planting is not desirable and the weather was incredibly rainy which made the area very muddy. A decision was made to put them all in the very back raised bed close together, backfill them all in their pots and cover with mulch. An alternative to over wintering in the garage where there are another 100 plants waiting to go in the ground. One advantage with the type of weather we were having was that it allowed time to even put in a nice number of Spring bulbs at greatly reduced prices! What fun!

Anyway, I will continue to update the site as to what is going to be available in the Spring. Please e-mail first regardless, as the number of fans may be limited for this year.
